Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — President-elect Prabowo Subianto convened several ministers and deputy ministers from President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) administration at his private residence on Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta, on Monday (October 14, 2024). Many of these officials from the Kabinet Indonesia Maju (KIM) are expected to retain their ministerial positions in Prabowo’s incoming administration.
One of the key figures confirmed to continue serving is Finance Minister Sri Mulyani. She revealed that Prabowo asked her to assist with budgeting for ministries, particularly as several ministries will undergo changes in nomenclature with the addition of new ones under his leadership.
“He asked me to continue as the Minister of Finance,” Sri Mulyani stated.
In addition to Sri Mulyani, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, was also spotted arriving at Prabowo’s residence. Airlangga shared that he and Prabowo discussed global geopolitical and geo-economic issues.
“He conveyed that geopolitics and geo-economics are currently unbalanced, especially between the West and East,” said Airlangga, adding that his future role will likely be related to his current responsibilities.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed that he would also maintain a ministerial position under Prabowo’s administration. While he refrained from specifying his exact role, Bahlil indicated that it would align closely with the work he has undertaken over the past five years.
