Bengkulu, IndonesiSentinel.com — A 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck Enggano, Bengkulu, on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 08:06 a.m. local time, according to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The agency confirmed that there is no tsunami threat following the quake.
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, with coordinates at 5.49 degrees south latitude and 102.61 degrees east longitude, located 41 kilometers southeast of Enggano Island.
“Earthquake: Magnitude 5.6, September 6, 2024, 08:06:36 WIB, Location: 5.49 LS, 102.61 BT (41 km Southeast of Enggano, Bengkulu), Depth: 10 km, no tsunami potential,” BMKG stated in an official release.
