Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — TikTok has launched a new in-app meditation feature aimed at helping users to stop from endless scrolling and improve sleep quality. The feature, officially announced on Friday (May 16), is now available to all users after an initial test run earlier this year with a group of teens.
According to TechCrunch, the feature was designed to encourage users, particularly teenagers to wind down at night instead of spending hours glued to their screens. For users under the age of 18, the meditation tool will be activated automatically.
The feature will activated when a teen is still using TikTok after 10 p.m. in the night. Their For You feed will be interrupted by a guided meditation session. The screen will switch to a calming interface featuring soft music and breathing exercises. If users choose to ignore the prompt and continue scrolling, a second full-screen reminder will appear, nudging them to go to sleep.
For adult users interested in trying the meditation tool, it can be enabled manually by navigating to the Screen Time settings and turning on the “sleep reminders” feature. Users can also customize the time they’d like to begin receiving the guided meditation sessions each night.

The feature reflects TikTok’s broader effort to address growing concerns about the platform’s impact on underage users. In recent years, the company has introduced several teen safety measures in response to mounting pressure from lawmakers and mental health advocates.
In additions with the feature’s rollout, TikTok also announced a global mental health initiative, pledging $2.3 million in ad credits to support 31 mental health organizations across 19 countries. The contribution is part of the platform’s ongoing Mental Health Awareness Education Fund.
The meditation feature newly launched by TikTok represents one of the app’s more direct strategies to promote healthier screen habits, especially among teenagers.
