Jakarta – The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs projects that the value of Indonesia’s digital economy transactions will continue to grow to US$360 billion by 2030, in line with Indonesia’s position as a major player in the ASEAN digital economy.

Deputy for Digital Economy, Employment, and MSMEs of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin said that the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy in 2022 alone has recorded US$77 billion or grew 22 percent from the previous year.

“Supported by a strong foundation, the value of Indonesia’s digital economy in 2025 is predicted to double to 130 billion U.S. dollars, and continue to increase to 222 to 360 billion U.S. dollars in 2030,” Rudy said, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday (25/5/2023).

He added that another influencing factor is investment in Indonesia’s digital economy sector which is also growing positively.

Rudy said the deal value of investment in the first quarter of 2022 reached US$3 billion, which is the second highest value in Southeast Asia after Singapore.

The acceleration of digital economic growth in Indonesia is also supported by the number of startup companies, which has now reached 2,400 startups. This puts Indonesia in sixth place in the world with the highest number of startups, Rudy said.

“These various achievements of digital economic transformation are strategic steps in supporting sustainable economic growth in accordance with the vision and goals of SDG (sustainable development),” he said.

SDG is a global development agenda to end poverty, improve welfare, and protect the planet through the achievement of 17 goals until 2030. (InfoPublik)
