Jakarta. Indonesia Sentinel — The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Banten Province, Indonesia, has conducted a major drug raid, seizing an estimated two tons of ecstasy tablets in what is believed to be one of the country’s largest ecstasy production operations.

The raid took place in the city of Serang, Banten, on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

According to Kombes Pol Irwan Andy Purnawan, Head of the Banten BNN’s Eradication and Intelligence Division, the raid was carried out at a residential property located in the Purna Bakti housing complex, in the Drangong neighborhood of Taktakan District.

The raid, which lasted from 3:28 PM to 6:00 PM local time, led to the arrest of the alleged head of the operation along with 10 other suspects.

While detailed information about the suspects has not yet been released, Purnawan noted that the National Narcotics Agency of Indonesia (BNN) will issue a full statement on the operation in the coming days.

“We will have an official release from BNN RI (National Headquarters),” he said.

Brigadier General Rohmad Nursahid, head of the Banten BNN, vowed to continue the fight against drug trafficking in the region.

“We will not stop here. Our efforts to dismantle drug networks in Banten and beyond will continue until these operations are fully eradicated,” Nursahid emphasized.

This bust marks a significant victory in Indonesia’s ongoing battle against narcotics trafficking, a persistent issue in the country and the broader Southeast Asian region.
