Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — A massive fire broke out in a densely populated residential area on Pasar Jiung, Central Jakarta, on December 10, 2024. The blaze, which started in a packed area made it quickly spread, threatening nearby homes.
According to a report from SindoNews, the devastating fire swept residential area in Kebong Kosong, Kemayoran district, Central Jakarta. Footage shared on social media by the @info_jakartapusat Instagram account showed towering flames and thick black smoke rising from the area, as crowds gathered near the fire.
The DKI Jakarta Fire Command Center confirmed that the fire was reported to have occurred in a residential area on Pasar Jiung, raising concerns that the fire could quickly spread to other buildings.
Head of Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat), Asril Rizal states information about the fire initially reported around 12.25 PM local time. By 12.33 PM, firefighting teams were quickly dispatched to the scene and the operations begin at 12.35 PM
Extinguishing Effort
The Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency responded swiftly, deploying fire trucks and personnel to battle the blaze. As many as 32 units and 128 joint personnel from Central Jakarta and North Jakarta have been deployed to extinguish the fire.

More than two hours of firefighters tried to extinguish the fire and at 14.10 WIB officers managed to put the fire under control and prevent its spreading. Reporting from Instagram post HumasJakfire, the extinguishing process entered the cooling stage at 15.00 WIB to ensures no fire remains.
Until this news was published, the cause of the fire had not been confirmed. The authorities have also not provided information regarding any fatalities or injuries due to this incident.
Meanwhile, further investigation will be carried out after the extinguishing process is complete. The public advised to stay away from the fire area on Pasar Jiung for safety and to provide space for officials to carry out their duties.
