Bogor, Indonesia Sentinel — A security guard found dead at a car rental facility on Jalan Lawang Gintung, Bogor Selatan, Indonesia, early Friday morning, January 17, 2025, in what authorities suspect to be a homicide.

The victim, identified as Septian (36) from Pelabuhan Ratu, Sukabumi, was discovered lifeless and covered in blood at the security post around 4:30 a.m. by a driver employed at the rental facility.

Details of the Incident

Police investigations reveal that the security guard found dead had sustained injuries consistent with physical violence.

“There appears to be a sharp weapon wound on his abdomen,” said South Bogor Police Chief Commissioner Maman Firmansyah.

At the scene, investigators found broken plate shards, a bag containing a hammer, and a shopping receipt, all of which have been secured as evidence. A shattered window at the security post was also noted, though there were no signs of theft.

The car rental facility, identified as PT Laduta Car Rental, also serves as the office for the law firm Berlin Pandiangan & Partners.

Investigation Underway

The police are actively investigating the case and have questioned four individuals as witnesses. These include the owner of the car rental business, a driver, and two housekeepers.

“Our investigators from the Bogor City Police are working to collect more information, and the crime scene has been secured with police tape,” added Commissioner Maman.

The motive for the killing remains unclear, and authorities are still piecing together the evidence.

Ongoing Security Concerns

The incident has raised concerns about safety at the facility, which operates as both a car rental business and a legal office. Residents in the area have expressed unease, calling for heightened security measures.

While police have yet to confirm the circumstances leading to the tragic event, the discovery of potentially related items such as the hammer and broken glass may provide critical leads.

The victim’s body has been taken to a local morgue for further examination as the investigation continues.

As authorities work to uncover the truth, this shocking incident highlights the urgent need for increased vigilance and security protocols in workplaces.
