Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has successfully secured five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with India during his official visit to New Delhi. This milestone underscores the growing partnership between the two nations.
The agreements were formalized during a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Following the meeting, both leaders addressed the press, highlighting their shared vision for cooperation.
“In our discussions covering trade, investment, tourism, health, energy, security, artificial intelligence (AI), digital IT, and energy, we agreed to deepen collaboration in these areas,” said President Prabowo on Monday (January 27, 2025).
Five Areas of Cooperation Formalized
During the high-level talks, Indonesia and India signed five key agreements, signaling their commitment to enhanced collaboration across various fields. The MoUs include:
- Health Cooperation: A Memorandum of Understanding between Indonesia’s Ministry of Health and India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to strengthen partnerships in public health initiatives.
- Quality Assurance in Traditional Medicine: An agreement between Indonesia’s Food and Drug Authority and India’s Pharmacopoeia Commission for quality assurance in traditional medicines and homeopathy.
- Digital Development: A partnership between Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital and India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, aimed at advancing digital transformation.
- Maritime Security: A collaboration between Indonesia’s Maritime Security Agency and India’s Coast Guard to bolster maritime safety and security.
- Cultural Exchange Program: A cultural exchange program between the Ministries of Culture of both nations for the period 2025–2028.
Key Sectors of Focus
The agreements highlight mutual interests in areas critical to both countries’ development, including health, technology, maritime security, and cultural heritage. Notably, the MoU on AI and digital IT development emphasizes the shared aspiration to embrace technological innovation.
