Indonesia Weather Alert! High Flood Warnings Issued Across Indonesia for February 2025

Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — February 2025 continues to be dominated by light to heavy rainfall across several regions of Indonesia. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning for high precipitation levels and potential high flood.

According to BMKG, approximately 81% of Indonesia’s seasonal zones (ZOM) have entered the rainy season. “For the first ten days of February 2025, several areas in Central Java and East Nusa Tenggara are predicted to face a high flood risk,” BMKG stated on Wednesday (February 5, 2025) as reported by Detik.

“Meanwhile, for the entire month of February, regions primarily in Java, West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara are expected to experience high flood risk,” BMKG added.

Residents are urged to take preventive measures, including ensuring proper drainage systems, maintaining health and hygiene, and carrying umbrellas or raincoats when venturing outdoors.

BMKG’s Early Warning for February 1-10

As of January 31, 2025, BMKG has classified its flood warnings into three levels:

  • Advisory: Some districts in South Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Central Papua, and South Papua.
  • Alert: Some districts in South Sumatra, Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara, and South Sulawesi.
  • Severe: No areas classified under this category.

High Flood Risk Areas (February 1-10, 2025)

Central Java:

  • Batang Regency: Bandar, Bawang, Blado, Pecalungan, Reban, Tersono, Wonotunggal.
  • Pekalongan Regency: Doro, Petungkriyono.
  • Kendal Regency: Plantungan.

East Nusa Tenggara:

  • Kupang Regency: Kupang Barat, Kupang Tengah, Kupang Timur, Nekamese, Semau, Semau Selatan, Sulamu, Taebenu, Takari, Amabi Oefeto, Amarasi, Amarasi Barat, Amarasi Selatan, Amfoang Barat Daya, Amfoang Barat Laut, Amfoang Selatan, Amfoang Tengah, Amfoang Timur, Amfoang Utara, Fatuleu Barat, Fatuleu Tengah.
  • Kupang City: Kota Lama, Kota Raja, Maulafa, Oebobo.
  • Rote Ndao Regency: Pantai Baru.

High Flood Risk Areas in Java for February 2025

For the whole month of February, multiple locations across Java, Indonesia faces potential high flood. According to Detik, here’s locations potentially affected by high flood.

Yogyakarta:

  • Sleman Regency: Turi.

Central Java:

  • Batang Regency: Bandar, Bawang, Batang, Banyuputih.
  • Kendal Regency: Plantungan, Pageruyung, Patean, Sukorejo.
  • Jepara Regency: Bangsri, Donorojo, Kalinyamatan, Kedung, Keling, Kembang, Mayong, Nalumsari, Pecangaan, Tahunan, Welahan.
  • Kudus Regency: Dawe, Gebog.
  • Pati Regency: Cluwak, Dukuhseti, Gembong, Gunungwungkal, Tayu, Tlogowungu.
  • Demak Regency: Wedung, Bonang, Demak Guntur, Karang Tengah, Mijen, Sayung, Wonosalam.
  • Karanganyar Regency: Jenawi.
  • Boyolali Regency: Cepogo.
  • Magelang Regency: Dukun, Kaliangkrik.
  • Purworejo Regency: Bener, Bruno, Gebang, Kemiri, Pituruh.
  • Kebumen Regency: Karangsambung, Sadang.
  • Wonosobo Regency: Kalibawang, Kalikajar, Kaliwiro, Kejajar, Kepil, Leksono, Mojotengah, Sapuran, Selomerto, Sukoharjo, Wadaslintang, Watumalang.
  • Banjarnegara Regency: Banjarmangu, Kalibening, Karangkobar, Pejawaran, Sigaluh, Wanayasa.
  • Banyumas Regency: Baturaden, Cilongok, Kedungbanteng.
  • Purbalingga Regency: Bobotsari, Karanganyar, Karangjambu, Karangreja, Kertanegara.
  • Brebes Regency: Banjarharjo, Bantarkawung, Bumiayu, Ketanggungan, Larangan, Salem, Sirampog, Tonjong.
  • Pekalongan City: Pekalongan Selatan.
  • Pekalongan Regency: Bojong, Buaran, Doro, Kajen, Karanganyar, Karangdadap, Kedungwuni, Kesesi, Lebakbarang, Petungkriyono, Sragi, Tirto, Wiradesa, Wonopringgo.
  • Cilacap Regency: Cimanggu, Dayeuhluhur, Majenang, Wanareja.
  • Tegal Regency: Balapulang, Bojong, Bumijawa, Jatinegara, Lebaksiu, Margasari, Pangkah.
  • Pemalang Regency: Belik, Bodeh, Pulosari.

With continuous rainfall expected, authorities urge residents in high-risk areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. BMKG will continue to monitor weather developments and issue further advisories as needed.
