Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Apple has announced the launch of Apple Intelligence on Monday, October 28, an innovative AI system set to bring a suite of new features to iPhone, iPad, and Mac users. According to Apple, these tools are now available for iPhone 16 Series, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPads with A17 Pro or newer, and Macs equipped with the M1 chip or newer.
This new functionality rolls out alongside Apple’s latest operating systems: iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. “Apple Intelligence introduces a new era for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, providing experiences and tools that can empower our users in ways they’ve never experienced before,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement on Monday.
Cook noted that Apple Intelligence is built on years of AI and machine learning development, placing Apple’s generative models at the core of its devices. This approach, he added, is both intuitive and privacy-centric.
Key Features of Apple Intelligence
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, detailed a range of new features, highlighting the transformative potential of Apple Intelligence in improving the productivity and creativity of Apple users.
Writing Tools
Apple Intelligence introduces “Writing Tools,” which provides enhanced writing capabilities across apps like Mail, Messages, Notes, Pages, and even third-party platforms. Users can now rewrite, correct, and summarize text with AI assistance.
The Rewrite feature offers multiple language options and style adjustments tailored to specific audiences and tasks, while the Proofread function suggests word choices, grammatical adjustments, and sentence structure improvements.
Upgraded Messaging Tools
Apple Intelligence elevates the messaging experience by prioritizing urgent messages in Mail and summarizing content directly from the inbox. Users can now preview email summaries and access notifications quickly from the lock screen, helping them stay focused in various contexts. A Smart Reply feature in Mail also drafts responses that include essential details and suggested replies for user confirmation.
Additionally, Notes and Phone apps now support audio recording, transcription, and summarization, so users can quickly access important details from conversations without reviewing entire recordings.
Image Creation Tools
With new creative tools, Apple Intelligence allows users to experiment with different visual styles, from animation and illustration to sketching. Users can create new illustrations based on descriptions, suggested concepts, or even adapt images from their Photos library. The Image Wand tool transforms rough sketches into polished visuals within the Notes app, adding a creative edge to everyday notes.
Enhanced Photos App
Apple Intelligence enhances the Photos app with advanced search capabilities, allowing users to find images by description. Users can also remove unwanted objects from images, or create custom memory clips by providing descriptions. The AI system then crafts a cohesive narrative video by sorting selected images and videos according to themes and structuring them into a storyline.

Siri Upgrades
The new AI system brings a significant upgrade to Siri, making it more intuitive and integrated across devices. Siri now has screen-awareness, enabling it to respond to prompts based on content displayed on the device. Enhanced natural language understanding and an improved voice make conversations with Siri feel more organic, while personal context awareness allows Siri to follow up on references from previous conversations.
Enhanced Privacy
Apple has designed Apple Intelligence with a focus on privacy, integrating its intelligence within each device through on-device processing. According to the company, Apple Intelligence processes private data without collecting it, thanks to Apple’s new Private Cloud Compute feature. Running on Apple silicon, this secure model ensures user requests are handled privately and efficiently.
With Apple Intelligence, Apple aims to provide cutting-edge AI experiences that remain anchored in the company’s commitment to privacy, giving users more control over their interactions while maintaining their data security.
