Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 16 series is finally available in Indonesia, following a months-long delay due to local regulatory hurdles. The devices officially went on sale nationwide on Friday, April 11, after Apple met the country’s domestic content requirement, known as the Tingkat Kandungan Dalam Negeri (TKDN) regulation.
The devices had previously been barred from entering the Indonesian market after failing to comply with TKDN regulations, which require a certain percentage of local content in electronic products sold in the country. After extensive negotiations, the series now available in Indonesia.
The launch brings all variants of the iPhone 16 lineup including the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max to Apple’s authorized retail partners across the country. The lineup also includes a new entry-level model, the iPhone 16e, aimed at more budget-conscious consumers.
Apple has emphasized that all models are equipped with the new Apple Intelligence AI features, designed to enhance user experience through smarter automation and personalized functionality.
The iPhone 16e, 16, and 16 Plus models run on Apple’s new A18 chip, while the premium iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max feature the more powerful A18 Pro chipset.
Customers who purchase from official Apple resellers in Indonesia will receive full warranty support and assurance that their devices’ IMEI numbers are registered with the national database, ensuring compatibility with local mobile networks.
