Jakarta – Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), Perry Warjiyo, conveyed three roles of BI to support and accelerate the digitalization of regional finance and economy at the National Coordination Meeting for the Acceleration and Expansion of Regional Digitalization (Rakornas P2DD) in 2023 with the theme “National Synergy to Accelerate Regional Digitalization for Advanced Indonesia”, Tuesday (3/10/2023).
First, BI digitizes in the field of payments, among others through QRIS, which has reached 37 million users, most of whom are MSME merchants.
“QRIS has prospered the people, and will be more complete through the new features of cash withdrawal, transfer and cash deposit (TUNTAS), and QRIS has been connected to the Indonesian Credit Card (KKI). This will accelerate the electronification of the local government,” Perry said.
Second, the expansion of Indonesian Credit Card services, which is inseparable from the role of governance arrangements from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
“To support it, BI continues to mobilize with banks and Payment Service Providers. KKI is not only without usage fees, but has a very affordable interest rate for merchants,” Perry said.
Third, with the concept of one country, one nation and one language, BI is carrying out end-to-end digitization which includes KKI, QRIS and fast payment which will be connected to the National Payment Gateway (GPN), so that various payment channels will be facilitated faster in real time.
“In the second quarter of 2023, digitalization in banking services has reached Rp14 thousand trillion, while electronic money transactions reached Rp111 trillion. Let us continue to work together to increase digitalization towards advanced Indonesia,” Perry concluded.
