Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesian herbal products company PT Brigit Biofarmaka Teknologi Tbk (OBAT) announced its participation in the government’s free nutritious meal program. The company will includes its latest products, spirulina milk and Neoalgae spirulina, which are designed to improve daily nutrition and combat childhood stunting.
“Spirulina milk serves as an alternative to cow’s milk for daily nutritional needs, while Neoalgae spirulina is a nutrient-enhancing algae supplement aimed at reducing stunting in toddlers,” said Is Heriyanto, President Director of Brigit Biofarmaka Teknologi, during an event at the Indonesia Stock Exchange in Jakarta on Monday, January 13, as reported by Detik Finance.
The company has made multiple presentations highlighting the potential of its products as supplemental additions to the government’s initiative. According to Heriyanto, they are now awaiting approval from the National Nutrition Agency to officially supply these supplements for the program.
“We have conducted several discussions and presentations at various forums. The government can see the potential of these products to address nutritional gaps and complexities. We’re now waiting for the green light from the National Nutrition Agency,” Heriyanto added.
Spirulina Milk
Previously, Brigit Biofarmaka Teknologi has unveiled its latest innovation, spirulina milk, touted as a promising alternative to cow’s milk.
According to RRI, Spirulina, a microscopic blue-green algae, is a photosynthetic organism packed with 55-70% protein, along with high levels of minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants. Its nutritional profile has made it a standout superfood.
Spirulina milk, Brigit Biofarmaka Teknologi’s latest innovation, boasts exceptional nutritional benefits, including high protein content, abundant calcium, and powerful antioxidants.
“Compared to cow’s milk, spirulina milk offers significant advantages, such as 22% more calcium and 20 times the amount of iron,” said Heriyanto, the company’s President Director.
The product is designed to address the nutritional needs of individuals who require high-protein intake but are intolerant to cow’s milk. It was launched alongside Neoalgae spirulina, a microalgae-based supplement aimed at reducing stunting rates among toddlers.
According to Jpnn.com, Both products have officially been patented by Indonesia’s Ministry of Law and Human Rights as of December 29, 2024. Is Heriyanto, President Director of Brigit Biofarmaka Teknologi, emphasized that spirulina research has been a cornerstone of the company’s innovation efforts since 2013.
