Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Notorious cybercriminal Bjorka has resurfaced, issuing warnings to Bank Central Asia (BCA) and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) about potential data breaches.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (February 5), Bjorka hinted at an imminent attack targeting Indonesian banks. “A surprise for banks in Indonesia. If they do not respond to this, Bank BCA will suffer a massive data breach,” Bjorka wrote, as reported by CNN Indonesia.

“BSI and BCA are being targeted by ransomware groups, and perhaps all Indonesian banks will be next. But who knows? Just making a guess, hahaha,” the hacker added.

“We, Bjorka, will always inform you if your country is being monitored by ransomware groups. They are prioritizing the banking sector. So stay alert and prioritize security and privacy,” the hacker stated.

BCA Responds to Cyber Threats

PT Bank Central Asia (BCA) has addressed concerns over the alleged data breach threat made by Bjorka. Hera F. Haryn, BCA’s Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility representative, reassured customers that no data had been compromised.

“Regarding information circulating on social media claiming that BCA customer data has been leaked, we confirm that such claims are false,” Hera said in an official statement.

She emphasized that the company takes rigorous measures to protect customer data and urged clients to remain vigilant against fraudsters posing as BCA representatives.

“Additionally, BCA continuously strengthens its data security with multi-layered protection strategies and necessary risk mitigation to safeguard customer data and digital transactions,” she added.

Similarly, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) has denied any data leaks following Bjorka’s threats. Wisnu Sunandar, BSI’s SVP Corporate Secretary, reassured customers that their data remained secure.

“In response to information circulating on social media about an alleged BSI customer data breach, we affirm that the claims are untrue. As of now, all BSI customer data remains safe and protected,” Wisnu states.

BSI reminded customers to remain cautious and avoid sharing PINs, OTPs, or passwords with anyone, including individuals posing as BSI representatives. The bank also encouraged users to regularly update their PINs and passwords to enhance account security.
