Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Dua Lipa highly anticipated concert at Jakarta in front of thousands of her fans in Indonesia was confirmed to be cancelled. The “Dua Lipa Radical Optimism Tour in Jakarta” was officially called off by promoters PK Entertainment and TEM Present on Friday night November 8, 2024, less than 24 hours before it was set to take place.
The concert, which was supposed to be Dua Lipa’s only solo performance in Jakarta, was scheduled for Saturday November 9 at Indonesia Arena. Jakarta was set to be the second stop on her November tour across Asia, following a performance in Singapore on November 6. The tour was expected to continue in the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Thailand later this month.
PK Entertainment and TEM Present as the promoters of Dua Lipa’s concert in Jakarta have confirmed this issues on their social media accounts.
In a written statement posted on social media, the promoters cited that stage safety and logistical challenges was the reason for Dua Lipa’s concert cancellation. The promoters emphasized that the decision to cancel Dua Lipa’s concert, while difficult, it was ultimately taken for the safety for both the audience and the artist.
“Due to unforeseen security and logistical issues, TEM Presents & PK Entertainment regrettably announce the cancellation of Dua Lipa’s highly anticipated Radical Optimism Tour in Jakarta scheduled for 9 Novemeber 2024 at the Indonesia Arena,” the promoters wrote on their social media accounts.
“Despite Dua Lipa being ready to perform, and the entire team’s efforts to resolve critical production issues related to the stage structure provided by Mata Elang Productions, it was deemed unsafe for the performance to carry on,” the promotors added.
Explanation of Dua Lipa’s Concert Stage Vendor
Dua Lipa’s team assessed that the stage that had been built at the Indonesia Arena, did not meet their safety standards. PK Entertainment and TEM as promoters entrusted the construction of the stage to Mata Elang as the stage vendor for the concert.
Mata Elang, through its statement on Instagram, said that they had carried out the production process with safety standards. Mata Elang as the stage vendor emphasized that it had worked professionally and with high dedication to meet production needs in accordance with safety standards.

Mata Elang admitted that they had ensured and obtained a structural safety certificate specifically for this event from a certified structural engineer who is experienced in handling large international events in Indonesia, which stated that the stage was safe to use.
“We respect this decision and apologize for the inconvenience felt by fans and related parties. We will continue to be committed to providing the best service in the future,” said Mata Elang in its official statement, as reported by Detik.
Dua Lipa Apologizing to Fans
Dua Lipa herself took to Instagram Stories on Friday night, November 8, expressing her disappointment and apologizing to her fans in Indonesia.
“I’m here in your amazing country, ready to perform, but iam gutted to share that it has been determined that it’s not safe for the performance to carry on due to safety issues with the staging,” she wrote in an Instagram Stories post.
“I was so looking forward to this night, and it’s truly pains me that we cannot perform for you all, especially after such a long time since my last performance in Jakarta,” she continued.
“I love you all, and I truly can’t wait to be back together in the same room with you, singing and dancing our hearts out as soon as possible,” Dua Lipa added.
Cancellations and Refund
The unexpected cancellation has left many fans disappointed and expressed their disappointment online, especially those who highly anticipating to see the star perform. Many blamed the promoter for the cancellation and regretted having bought tickets.
Responding to fans disappointment, PK Entertainment and TEM Present as the Dua Lipa concert promotor apologized to fans for the last-minute cancellation and assured them that they could request refunds.
