Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Elon Musk, the world-renowned entrepreneur and CEO has added another surprising achievement: a world record in the popular video game Diablo IV. Musk completed a speedrun in the game’s “The Pit” dungeon, setting a record time of 1 minute and 52 seconds, making him the top player globally.
On November 21, 2024, Musk shared his accomplishment on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“So many life lessons to be learned from speedrunning video games on max difficulty. Teaches you to see the matrix, rather than simply exist in the matrix. Diablo Tier 150 finished in under 2 mins.”
Musk’s success highlights his dual identity as a high-profile businessman and a dedicated gamer. Outside of his busy professional life, Elon Musk frequently shares Diablo IV playthrough videos on his secondary X account, @cyb3rgam3r420, which is dedicated to gaming content. He even streams his gameplay sessions from time to time, showcasing his enthusiasm for the game.
In an earlier appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Musk revealed that he ranked among the top 20 global players of Diablo IV. He was one of only two Americans on the global Helltides leaderboard, holding the 19th spot. Musk also discussed the personal significance of gaming, describing it as both a challenging and meditative hobby.
“Playing on extreme difficulty has a calming effect, it’s a mental reset,” Musk said during the podcast. “Concentrate fully on the game provides a calming effect, it sorts of chills that relieve from the stresses.”
Breaking the Record
The record-breaking feat took place in “The Pit,” a time-limited battle mode introduced in Diablo IV titled “Loot Reborn.” In this mode, players must defeat waves of enemies within 15 minutes. Any deaths during the battle reduce the remaining time, making the challenge even tougher.
Elon Musk and Pronatalism Amid Global Fertility Concerns
Level 150 of “The Pit” is notoriously difficult due to its complex terrain and formidable enemies, requiring exceptional skill and experience to conquer. Before Musk’s run, the previous record of 1 minute and 59 seconds was held by an American player known as “Resistance.” Musk surpassed this by shaving seven seconds off the time, achieving a stunning 1:52-minute completion.
Despite Musk’s record-breaking performance, his achievement has yet to be officially recorded in the game. Leaderboard resets are required to update player standings, meaning Musk’s position at the top is pending official verification.
