Previously serving as the Minister of Investment, Bahlil has now transitioned to his new role following his appointment by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). As for his compensation in the new role, Bahlil’s salary as the Minister of ESDM remains consistent with what he received as the Minister of Investment. According to Government Regulation (PP) No. 60 of 2000 regarding the Financial/Administrative Rights of State Ministers and Former State Ministers, as well as their Widows/Widowers, the salary for a minister is set at IDR 5,040,000 per month.
In addition to the base salary, ministers are also entitled to a monthly job allowance of IDR 13,608,000, as stipulated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 68 of 2001 concerning Job Allowances for Certain State Officials. This brings the total monthly compensation for the Minister of ESDM to approximately IDR 18.64 million.

Beyond the base salary and job allowance, ministers also receive various other benefits from the state, including health insurance, an official vehicle with VIP security escort, and a government-provided residence.
Additionally, ministers are granted operational funds that are significantly higher than their salary, in accordance with Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 3 of 2006 concerning Ministerial Operational Funds.
