Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — The Indonesian government, in collaboration with Toll Road Business Entities (BUJT), will open several toll roads sections in Java and Sumatra free of charge during the Christmas and New Year holidays (Nataru) 2024-2025. A total of seven toll road sections will be operational to ease travel during the peak holiday season.

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo announced that the initiative aims to facilitate smoother traffic flow during the Christmas and New Year period. “Several functional toll roads will temporarily open to the public to support holiday travel during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year period,” Dody said on Wednesday (December 4), as reported by CNBC Indonesia.

The seven functional toll roads include four sections in Sumatra and three in Java, with some located in the greater Jakarta area. The total length of these operational roads is 120.4 kilometers, comprising 90.42 kilometers in Sumatra and nearly 30 kilometers in Java.
