Owned by Sinar Mas Group, a prominent Indonesian conglomerate founded by Eka Tjipta Widjaja, one of the country’s wealthiest entrepreneurs, the hotel is a flagship property in the heart of the capital. Sinar Mas Group is also known for its elite residential developments, such as the BSD City satellite town.
Rumors Circulate on Social Media
News of the sale has been circulating on social media platforms. A TikTok post from the account @Almer Property on Monday, January 27, 2025 claimed, “For sale: Grand Hyatt Jakarta, a five-star hotel located in the heart of Jakarta, Indonesia, within the iconic Plaza Indonesia complex,” as reported by ntvnews.id.
While the report remains unverified, rumors of the hotel’s sale first surfaced in September 2024 on a property-focused website.

The Grand Hyatt Jakarta is renowned for its strategic location within the Plaza Indonesia complex on Jalan MH Thamrin, one of the city’s most prestigious addresses.
