Hannover Messe 2023 Attracts USD 2 Billion in Cooperation Commitments

Hannover, Indonesia Sentinel – Automotive Component Industry Showcases TechThe Hannover Messe 2023 event has a positive impact on increasing investment in Indonesia. At the world’s largest industrial technology exhibition, there are a number of cooperation agreements that will be signed by the government and business people.

“This cooperation agreement is an achievement of one of the goals of Indonesia’s participation as Partner Country Hannover Messe 2023, namely the realization of industrial cooperation and foreign investment,” Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said in Hannover, Germany, Monday (17/4).

The Minister of Industry said, there were 27 cooperation agreements that would be signed by the Indonesian side at the Hannover Messe 2023 event, including one cooperation agreement between the Governments of Indonesia and Germany or Government to Government (G to G).

Furthermore, four agreements are Government to Business (G to B) or government with business people, and as many as 22 agreements are carried out by Business to Business (B to B) or cooperation between companies. The total value of the investment cooperation commitment is more than USD1.9 billion.

“75% of the MoU signing participants came from co-exhibitors of Hannover Messe 2023, and the rest were outside the co-exhibitors. This shows that the enthusiasm of co-exhibitors to cooperate with partners is quite high,” he said.

Agus said that the G to G agreement signed was a Joint Statement Declaration of Intent (JDoI) between the Indonesian Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) on Joint Economic Cooperation.

Then, for the scope of cooperation on a G to B basis, including improving human resources in the development and transformation of industry 4.0, waste-to-energy management, waste management using circular economy, and collaboration in the development of the Archipelago Capital (IKN).

Meanwhile, areas of cooperation carried out on a B to B basis include sustainable energy technology management, as well as investment in the use of solar energy, semiconductor development, medical equipment and manufacturing industry safety.

There is also cooperation on waste-to-energy management, establishment of chemical and molding factory centers, establishment of learning centers, cooperation in the electric vehicle (EV) recharging ecosystem and industrial digital information 4.0.

“In addition, the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) milling machines and learning systems on medical ventilators, digital solutions for Small and Medium Industries (SMIs) and digital services, as well as cooperation in making radars. The parties consist of various private companies and also State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs),” Agus said.

On this occasion, the Minister of Industry expressed his appreciation to all parties who have expressed their commitment in efforts to increase investment in Indonesia. This effort is believed to accelerate the improvement of industrial competitiveness and national economic growth. “The signing of this industrial cooperation can bring many changes in industrial improvement in various fields and also open wider industrial market access,” he said.

Hannover Messe 2023 can be utilized to introduce the strength of national industrial technology and encourage the connection of Indonesian industry with the global supply chain network. Thus, Indonesia is not only seen as a country that has the potential of world market power, but also has an important meaning and role in contributing to the development of industrial and supporting technology.

Indonesia is targeting four main agendas for its participation in this year’s Hannover Messe. First, to introduce Indonesia’s vision on the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap. Second, to promote industrial cooperation. Third, to promote investment and exports. Finally, to enhance bilateral cooperation with Germany and enter the global supply chain network.
