Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Cianjur’s Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has recorded 27 disasters points across 11 districts in Cianjur Regency, West Java, following torrential rains. The incidents, ranging from landslides to flooding and soil movement, occurred after heavy rains pour the region for the last 24 hours.
Asep Sukmana Wijaya, the head of BPBD Cianjur, reported the disasters on Wednesday morning December 4. Asep said the disaster was due to heavy rain occur since Tuesday afternoon (Decemeber 3) until Wednesday Morning (December 4).
According to CNN Indonesia, as of Wednesday, disaster management officials in Cianjur reported 27 disaster-affected locations. The incidents were spread across 11 districts, including Sindangbarang, Cibinong, Pasirkuda, Leles, Agrabinta, Cijati, Pagelaran, Kadupandak, Naringgul, and Cibeber
This means the disasters have affected more than 70 percent of south part of Cianjur Regency, specifically 11 out of its 15 districts.
Landslides, Flooding, and Ground Movement
Asep Sukmana Wijaya, head of Cianjur’s Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), stated that his team had received numerous reports detailing the impact of the disasters throughout the region. The disasters caused significant disruptions, including blocked roads, damaged homes, and submerged farmland.
Landslides were reported at seven locations in districts such as Cibinong, Tanggeung, Naringgul, Cibeber, and Kadupandak. Several of these incidents have threatened residential buildings and obstructed main roads.
Flooding was reported in seven locations across four districts, inundating residential areas and rice fields. Additionally, 14 points of ground movement and soil subsidence were identified across six districts, including Tanggeung, Cijati, Pagelaran, and Agrabinta.

Asep confirmed the authenticity of widely circulated videos on social media showing the scale of the disasters. “I’ve verified with officials in several districts, and the videos are accurate. They depict landslides, flooding, overturned vehicles, and damaged roads,” he said.
Urgent Warnings for Residents
As rainfall remains heavy, Asep urged residents in disaster-prone areas to remain vigilant and prioritize safety. “We advise people living in flood-prone areas or near hillsides to stay alert and, if necessary, evacuate to safer locations. The intensity of the rain is still high,” he warned.
BPBD Cianjur is currently assessing the full impact of the disasters, including the number of affected residents, damaged homes, and public facilities.
