Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Val Kilmer, Hollywood actor best known for portraying Bruce Wayne in “Batman Forever,” has passed away at the age of 65. He died in Los Angeles on Tuesday (April 1) due to pneumonia.
According to The New York Times, Val Kilmer death was confirmed by his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, who stated that her father succumbed to pneumonia.
Mercedes also noted that Kilmer had been diagnosed with throat cancer, but was later declared cancer-free. However, no further details regarding the cause of death or funeral arrangements have been released.
Born in Los Angeles on December 31, 1959, Val Kilmer started acting in high school and later became the youngest student accepted into the drama program at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York.
He rose to prominence as a leading actor in the 1990s. His breakthrough came with the comedy films “Top Secret!” (1984) and “Real Genius” (1985), but he gained widespread recognition after starring as LT Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in “Top Gun” (1986) alongside Tom Cruise.
Kilmer’s career soared further when he portrayed rock icon Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone’s biopic “The Doors” (1991). He then shared the screen with Hollywood heavyweights Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in the crime thriller “Heat” (1995).
His most iconic role came in 1995 when he played Bruce Wayne in “Batman Forever,” directed by Joel Schumacher. He starred alongside Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, and Nicole Kidman, cementing his place as one of Hollywood’s top actors of the era.

In 2015, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer, which led to medical procedures that severely damaged his vocal cords, leaving him with significant speech difficulties.
