Bandung, Indonesia Sentinel — Pos Indonesia has officially launched the country’s first-ever NFT stamp, marking a new era in stamp collecting. The groundbreaking initiative was unveiled during the Post and Telecommunications Service Day (Hari Bhakti Postel) ceremony on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Central Post Office in Bandung.
Faizal Rochmad Djoemadi, President Director of Pos Indonesia, highlighted that the NFT stamp is aimed at attracting younger, tech-savvy generations. “We hope that young people, especially those who are digital natives, will begin collecting stamps again, but in this new NFT format,” Faizal said following the ceremony.
The NFT (non-fungible token) stamp is part of a global trend in philatelic innovation, with Indonesia becoming the third Southeast Asian country to adopt it, following Thailand and Malaysia. However, unlike traditional stamps, Faizal clarified that the NFT version is not intended for postal payments or shipping purposes, but as collectible items.
“This NFT stamp is positioned as a collectible. It’s a unique item that will increase in value over time and will be much easier to acquire by people around the world,” he added.
The digital format of the NFT stamp offers advantages to international collectors, as blockchain technology allows for easier transfers compared to physical stamps. Despite its digital nature, Faizal noted that the NFT stamp also comes with a physical counterpart, allowing collectors to own a tangible version of the item.

Deputy Minister of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) Nezar Patria, who was present at the launch event, praised Pos Indonesia’s NFT initiative as a significant breakthrough. He expressed optimism that this would be the first of many innovations by the postal service in adapting to the digital economy.
“This NFT stamp is one of PT Pos Indonesia’s breakthroughs, and I believe it marks an important step toward embracing the digital economy,” Nezar stated. “We hope that Pos Indonesia will continue to make further innovations in line with the growth of technology-driven industries.”
With the introduction of the NFT stamp, Pos Indonesia aims to stay relevant in an increasingly digital world, appealing to a new generation of collectors and expanding the reach of Indonesian philately on a global scale.
