Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesia’s elite counterterrorism unit, Densus 88, arrested four suspected terrorists in Majalengka, West Java, on Friday (December 27), in a series of coordinated raids across multiple locations.
Ipda Riyana, a spokesperson for the Majalengka Police Department, confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were apprehended at different sites starting at 5:50 a.m. local time.
“It’s true that four suspected terrorists were secured by Densus 88 from the West Java Police in Majalengka, across different locations,” Riyana said on Saturday, Dce,ber 28, as reported by CNN Indonesia.
Authorities conducted searches at four residences, with officers from the Majalengka Police accompanying the anti-terror unit. The suspects are believed to be part of the same network as another terrorism suspect arrested earlier in Tasikmalaya, West Java.
All four individuals are confirmed to be Majalengka residents, though Riyana declined to provide further details, stating that additional information would be released by the West Java Police.
“Further details about the four suspected terrorists from Majalengka will be officially disclosed by the West Java Regional Police,” he added.
Riyana urged local residents to remain calm and not to panic following the arrests, assuring them that police are maintaining security across the region.
Earlier Arrest in Tasikmalaya
On the same day, Densus 88 also arrested another suspected terrorist in Tasikmalaya, West Java. The suspect was apprehended at a residence in Jayaratu Village, Sariwangi District, during a morning raid between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m.
“It is true that this morning there was an operation conducted by Densus 88 in our jurisdiction,” said Tasikmalaya Police Chief AKBP Haris Dinzah.
Haris confirmed that one individual was arrested, but details regarding the suspect’s identity and alleged terror activities remain under investigation.
“One person has been detained, and further information, including their identity, will be released by the West Java Police Public Relations and Densus 88,” Haris said.

The suspect’s residence was also searched during the operation, with Tasikmalaya Police officers assisting Densus 88. Authorities have yet to disclose any evidence recovered from the scene.
“Yes, a search was conducted, but we will provide more details later,” Haris concluded.
The arrests underscore Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, with Densus 88 playing a central role in dismantling extremist networks across the archipelago.
