Indonesian Economist Faisal Basri Dies at 65

Jakarta, IndonesiaSentinel.com — Renowned Indonesian economist Faisal Basri passed away at Mayapada Hospital in Kuningan, Jakarta, at 3:50 AM on Thursday (Sept. 5, 2024). He was 65.

The family expressed their deep sorrow over his death. “We ask for your prayers that Rahimahullah is granted the best place in Jannatul Firdaus,” a statement from the family read. “May his mistakes be forgiven, his grave be spacious, and his good deeds accepted. May those left behind find patience and peace.”

Faisal Basri is survived by his wife, Syafitrie Nasution, and their three children: Anwar Ibrahim Basri, Siti Nabila Azuraa Basri, and Muhammad Attar Basri.
