Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesia’s company, PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo), has signed strategic agreements partnership with China’s Tencent Cloud and Alibaba Cloud to enhance cloud infrastructure and develop local digital talent in Indonesia. The agreements were finalized on Sunday during President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to China, aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s cloud infrastructure and developing local digital talent in Indonesia.
The collaboration was announced at the Indonesia-China Business Forum, facilitated by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s China Committee (KIKT) in Beijing. This partnership is seen as a significant step toward accelerating Indonesia’s digital transformation and supporting sustainable economic growth.
The partnership includes initiatives to equip Indonesia’s workforce with essential digital skills, aligning with the country’s ambition to excel in the global digital economy and advancing its “Golden Vision 2025.”
Cloud Infrastructure and Talent Development
Senior Vice President of Tencent Cloud International, Poshu Yeung, emphasized that the company’s investment in Indonesia would focus on empowering local enterprises with advanced cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
He also announced plans to establish Tencent Cloud’s third internet data center (IDC) in Indonesia, as part of a new commitment involving approximately $500 million in infrastructure and investments through 2030.
Meanwhile, Alibaba Cloud, the first major cloud service provider to establish local infrastructure in Indonesia, has already set up three data centers in the country. It has also collaborated with various educational institutions to train nearly 400,000 individuals in cloud and AI technologies.
Alibaba Cloud aims to double this figure to 800,000 by 2033 and is set to establish a Skills Center at the University of Indonesia under its Alibaba Cloud Academic Empowerment Program (AAEP).

Vice President of Alibaba Cloud International, Sean Yan highlighted the company’s long-term commitment to Indonesia, a key market in Southeast Asia.
“We are dedicated to supporting Indonesia’s digital ecosystem with high-performance, localized solutions that unlock new business opportunities, drive economic progress, and accelerate the country’s journey towards a digitally inclusive society,” Yan said.
Strengthening GoTo’s Cloud Capabilities
This latest commitment builds on broader cloud service partnership between GoTo, Tencent Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud, first announced in September 2024. Patrick Walujo, CEO of GoTo Group, underscored the importance of these partnerships for Indonesia’s digital landscape.
“By collaborating with Tencent Cloud and Alibaba Cloud, we are not only ensuring that the GoTo platform remains secure and resilient but also contributing to the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy with significant investments in cloud infrastructure,” Walujo said in a written statement.
Supporting Indonesia’s Vision for a Digital Future
The agreements align with Indonesia’s broader strategy to become a leading digital economy in Southeast Asia. The Indonesian government, alongside corporate partners, aims to build a digitally skilled workforce capable of driving the nation’s economic transformation.
In addition to cloud services, the partnership is expected to pave the way for increased investments in digital infrastructure, enhancing Indonesia’s readiness for future technological advancements.
With the partnership of two of China’s tech giants, GoTo is poised to play a central role in Indonesia’s push towards a robust, tech-driven economic future, contributing to the country’s vision of a digitally inclusive society by 2025.
