Jakarta – Indonesian para judo athletes successfully became the overall champion by winning a total of 11 gold and 5 silver at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia.
The results also proved that the para judo team exceeded the initial target of 8 gold.
The Red and White para judo team won 2 gold in the final match of para judo after defeating Thailand 2-0 which was held at the Youth Federation Hall, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, reported by Kemenpora, Tuesday (6/6/2023).
Head Coach of Indonesian para judo, Imam Kuncoro, gave appreciation to his students for the results that exceeded the target.
“Alhamdulillah, thank God and blind judo has succeeded in meeting the initial target of 8 gold and thank God the overall champion by being able to win 11 gold and 5 silver,” Imam Kuncoro said tearfully.
Imam also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia which has long provided maximum facilitation for the training center at the NPC Indonesia Solo judo sport.
“Thank you for the support from the government, in that case the Ministry of Youth and Sports, NPC Indonesia, which has facilitated us to train in TC for eight months to welcome Asean Para Hames Cambodia,” he explained.
“Since the beginning we have motivated athletes that in Cambodia it will be your sports party because you have practiced very hard and disciplined. And that is our result to prove to the Red and White,” he added.
Today in the men’s round robin Djunaedi cs was able to bend the Malaysian host 2-0. Larassati cs women’s round robin was also able to silence the host 2-0.
Entering the final round, the Indonesian women’s judo team met the Thai national team. Larassati cs again won the match 2-0. The result was followed by the men’s para judo team who also achieved the same result 2-0.
