Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesia’s Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) has issued a public warning about scams targeting taxpayers by exploiting the Core Tax System, the newly launched country’s tax administration system. Fraudsters have been impersonating the Coretax system to deceive the public, urging vigilance against these schemes.
The warning comes as the Coretax system, launched on January 1, 2025, has faced accessibility issues, sparking frustration among taxpayers. Exploiting this situation, malicious actors have attempted to defraud users.
In a statement shared via official Instagram account DJP warned the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes. “There have been numerous scams claiming to represent DJP’s Coretax system,” stated a video posted on the DJP’s verified Instagram account, @ditjenpajakri, on Thursday January 16.
The authority emphasized that it does not request taxpayers to verify data through phone calls, WhatsApp messages, or by downloading files in APK format. “Be cautious of scams impersonating DJP’s Coretax system. DJP does not conduct data verification through calls, WhatsApp, or requests to download APK files,” the post states.
The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) stated that all taxpayer data updates or changes can be completed independently through the Coretax system, the agency’s central tax administration platform.
System Improvements
Responding to public concerns over access issues, the DJP acknowledged ongoing technical difficulties and reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the Coretax system. “DJP continues to make improvements to ensure taxpayers encounter no further issues in accessing the Coretax services,” said Dwi Astuti, Director of Education, Services, and Public Relations at DJP, in a written statement on Monday (January 13, 2025).

Astuti also expressed gratitude for taxpayers’ patience and collaboration during the transition. “We thank taxpayers for their cooperation and patience in supporting the government’s efforts to develop an advanced information system,” she added.
Fraud Prevention and Reporting Channels
To combat the rise in fraudulent activities, DJP has urged taxpayers to exercise caution and report any suspicious interactions through official complaint channels.
To verify the authenticity of any letters, messages, or links claiming to be from the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP), public could access through the following official channels:
- Nearest Tax Office (KPP)
- Tax Call Center: 1500200
- X (formerly Twitter) account: @kring_pajak
- Live Chat: https://www.pajak.go.id
As DJP works to resolve these challenges, taxpayers are advised to remain alert and skeptical of unsolicited requests or unofficial communications to avoid falling victim to scams.
