Beyond the details of the case, the hooded sherpa-lined jacket worn by Luigi Mangione has sparked an unusual trend, with sales of similar products soaring across the United States.
CCTV footage from the day of the murder shows the 26-year-old suspect Luigi Mangione wearing a green hooded jacket, closely resembling a Levi’s Sherpa-Lined Two-Pocket Hooded Trucker Jacket. The footage went viral online, prompting discussions on Reddit, where users speculated about the jacket’s model and dubbed it “killer fashion.”
According to the VOI, the Levi’s jacket priced at $225 (Rp3,5 million) sold out quickly. Through Macy’s platform, more than 700 units of similar jacket was purchased in just 48 hours. In December 10, 2024, the jacket was marked as “unavailable” on several websites, GQ reported.
Other e-commerce platforms, including Kohl’s, reported similar spikes, with over 3,000 jackets sold. Amazon also listed comparable models at similar prices.
Social media communities have driven the jacket’s virality, with some users purchasing it as a darkly themed Halloween costume. Others debated, emphasizing that the jacket was not identical to the one worn by Luigi Mangione.

In addition to the jacket, Luigi Mangione themed merchandise, including mugs, T-shirts, and hats, has surfaced on platforms like Etsy and Amazon. However, many of these items have since been removed.
