Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Halim Sanusi University (UHS) in Bandung has officially reappointed Ir. Setiadi Yazid, M.Sc., Ph.D., as rector for a second term. The inauguration ceremony took place Tuesday morning (September 2, 2025) at Naripati Hotel in Bandung, attended by representatives from the regional higher education authority LLDIKTI IV and Chairman of the Board of Trustees K.H. Nazar Haris, MBA.
In his remarks, Setiadi said his second term would focus on shaping student character and strengthening the university’s distinct identity.
“The greatest challenge for private universities is to have a clear uniqueness. UHS must instill character in its students so they excel not only academically, but also in leadership and entrepreneurship,” he said.
Setiadi also highlighted the issue of integrity in higher education, particularly the risks of fraud.
“Fraud can occur when students only chase degrees or when lecturers focus solely on salaries. We want UHS to be a campus that upholds honesty, so both students and lecturers share a spirit of change,” he stressed.
Speaking after the ceremony, Setiadi said his target for UHS in this new term is to build an entrepreneurial culture.
“UHS students must be ready to create their own jobs rather than depending solely on civil service or formal employment. We want to produce ethical entrepreneurs with leadership qualities who can benefit their communities,” he added.
Echoing his remarks, Nazar Haris underlined the importance of differentiation for private universities.
“In terms of hard skills, it is difficult to surpass public universities due to limited facilities. But UHS must excel in soft skills, particularly in building student character. This nation does not lack smart people, it lacks leaders with integrity,” Nazar said.
The inauguration was also broadcast on the university’s official YouTube channel. With Setiadi’s reappointment, UHS aims to strengthen its role in addressing the challenges of higher education in the era of global competition while nurturing a new generation of young leaders with character, knowledge, and competitiveness.
