Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — A Japanese company has unveiled a futuristic innovation for personal hygiene, a “human washing machine”. It designed not only to automatically cleanse the body, but to also to optimize the bathing experience.
Osaka-based company, Science Co, known for its high-tech showerheads, has introduced the “Mirai Ningen Sentakuki,” which translates to “Future Human Washing Machine.” Resembling the cockpit of a fighter jet, the device features a transparent cover that opens from the back, combining cutting-edge technology with sleek design.
The pod-like washing machine goes beyond automated basic hygiene. According to TechCrunch, it integrates advanced biometrics and AI to deliver a fully personalized bathing experience.
When a user sits in the center seat, the device partially fills the chamber with warm water. Sensors embedded in the chair will monitor vital signs such as heart rate and other biological data. This ensures the water temperature and washing process are personalized to the user’s needs.
Meanwhile, an AI system evaluates the user’s mood, whether relaxed or stressed, and projects images onto the transparent cover to enhance mental rejuvenation. The entire process, including a full-body wash and drying cycle, takes approximately 15 minutes.
From Exhibition to Everyday Use
Although currently the machine was designed for exhibition showcase, Science Co is developing a consumer version aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being. Company Chairman Yasuaki Aoyama stated that the technology is about 70% complete and is progressing.

The “Future Human Washing Machine” will make its debut at the Osaka Kansai Expo in April 2025, where Science Co plans to offer 1,000 attendees to experience the bathing experience with the machine. Visitors can reserve a spot via a dedicated page on the company’s website.
As personal care technology evolves, innovations like this signal a future where daily hygiene routines are more automated and customized. However, the success of such devices will depend on striking a balance between convenience, privacy, and the human touch in self-care.
