Karawang Whoosh Station Offers Smooth Facilities and Access, Serves 5,500 Passengers in First 10 Days

Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — The Karawang Station on the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail (KCJB), also known as Whoosh, served 5,500 passengers during its first 10 days of operation from December 24, 2024, to January 2, 2025. Whoosh Karawang station offers various facilities to ensure smooth access for passengers.

Eva Chairunisa, General Manager of Corporate Secretary KCIC, said the presence of Karawang Station has brought positive impacts on local mobility and economic activity.

“During the first 10 days of operation, the average daily number of passengers arriving and departing from Karawang Station was between 400 and 500. The peak was recorded on December 29, 2024, with 777 passengers served on that day,” Eva said in an official statement on Friday, January 3, 2024.

During this period, the most popular routes included Karawang-Padalarang with 1,389 passengers, Padalarang-Karawang with 996 passengers, and Halim-Karawang with 896 passengers.

Eva explained that during the holiday season, most passengers from Karawang used Whoosh to travel to Bandung for tourism purposes, while others from outside Karawang visited premium shopping outlets in the area.

Accessibility and Facilities

To enhance accessibility, Karawang Station is equipped with various intermodal facilities, including conventional and online taxis, as well as free shuttle buses to and from The Grand Outlet and Summarecon Villaggio Outlets. Passengers can use the complimentary shuttle buses by simply showing their Whoosh train tickets.

Private vehicle access to Karawang Station is available via Jl. Badami, Jl. Pasar Jati, and Jl. Raya Pangkalan. Alternatively, smaller vehicles can use Jl. Trans Hexa Karawang and then connect to Jl. Raya Pangkalan. The station also has direct access from the Karawang Barat Toll Exit KM 47 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Highway.

Ticket Fares

Ticket fares for the Halim-Karawang route start at Rp125,000 ($8) for Premium Economy class. Meanwhile, fares for the Karawang-Padalarang or Tegalluar Summarecon routes start at Rp175,000 ($11) for Premium Economy.

These fares are set to ensure affordability across different social groups while promoting environmentally friendly transportation.

“With the establishment of Karawang Station, we hope to further improve accessibility and provide a comfortable travel experience for all Whoosh High-Speed Rail passengers,” Eva concluded.

With the facilities and accessibilities, Whoosh Karawang Station now fully operational, as Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail is set to further enhance regional connectivity, boost local tourism, and stimulate economic growth. As passenger numbers continue to rise, the station is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming travel patterns in West Java.
