Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has launched the Frequent Whoosher Card, offering discounted fares for regular users of the Whoosh high-speed rail service. Passengers can travel in Premium Economy class between Halim Station and Padalarang or Tegalluar Summarecon for a flat rate of Rp 175,000 ($11).

Eva Chairunisa, General Manager of Corporate Secretary at KCIC, described the card as a gesture of appreciation for loyal passengers. “The Frequent Whoosher Card allows users to enjoy 10 Premium Economy trips at a fixed rate, even during peak hours or weekends,” Eva stated in a press release on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, as reported by Tempo.

The card is particularly beneficial for frequent travelers, such as commuters between Jakarta and Bandung, providing a cost-effective and efficient travel solution. Many users have praised the program for simplifying their daily routines, especially for those making regular long-distance trips.

The Frequent Whoosher Card is available at Whoosh ticket counters in Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar Summarecon stations. Priced at Rp 1,750,000 (approximately $111), the card covers 10 Premium Economy trips valid for 30 days from the date of purchase. Travelers can redeem their trips at ticket counters daily from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., subject to seat availability.

However, the card has some restrictions: tickets redeemed using the Frequent Whoosher Card cannot be canceled or rescheduled, and the card is non-transferable. Any unused trips remaining after the 30-day validity period will not be refunded.

Strong Demand and Future Plans

The program has seen significant success, with 3,500 cards sold throughout 2024. Sales peaked in November 2024, with 900 cards purchased in a single month. As of January 2025, total sales have reached 3,800 cards.

In response to growing demand, KCIC is planning to develop a digital system to enable online redemption of the Frequent Whoosher Card. “KCIC remains committed to providing services that meet the needs of passengers, whether for daily commutes or leisure travel. With this card, we aim to offer more efficient and affordable travel options,” Eva concluded.

This subscription card for regular Whoosh users underscores KCIC’s dedication to enhancing accessibility and convenience for Indonesia’s high-speed rail users while fostering a culture of sustainable and affordable transportation.
