Jakarta, IndoensiaSentinel.com — A massive fire erupted on Jalan Muwardi Raya, RT 07/04, Grogol, West Jakarta, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, injuring six people, including civil servants and city workers.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
Jakarta’s Fire and Rescue Operations Chief, Syarifudin, reported that 17 units and 85 firefighters were deployed to contain the blaze.
Cooling operations continued after the fire was localized around 7:14 a.m.
“Among the injured are civil servant Dony Kurniawan, Pjlp worker M. Wahyudi, and PPSU worker Rano, all of whom are being treated at Sumber Waras Hospital,” Syarifudin said.
Other victims include Arif Rochman, also treated at Sumber Waras, and Umar Basari, who was transferred to Tarakan Hospital. Ali Nurdin was also taken to Sumber Waras Hospital.
Fire Breaks Out in Grogol, 17 Fire Units Deployed!
The fire broke out around 6:35 a.m., consuming a semi-permanent building. By 7:31 a.m., firefighters were still cooling down the area to prevent the fire from reigniting.
The extent of the damage is yet to be determined.
