Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — The 2025 Mandalika MotoGP delivered a spectacular show, drawing a record-breaking crowd of 142,000 spectators and considered the highest attendance since the event was first held in Indonesia’s Mandalika Circuit.
Indonesia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, said the world-class race was not only a sporting success but also brought significant economic benefits at both national and regional levels.
“An incredible achievement of 142,000 people came to watch the Mandalika MotoGP. This is a milestone that shows how the central government, industry players, the Tourism Ministry, and local administrations worked hand-in-hand to make this event a vital part of promoting Indonesia,” Erick said on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
According to Erick, the economic impact generated by the 2025 Mandalika MotoGP reached 4.8 trillion rupiah (around $295 million), and he expressed optimism that the figure would increase next year.
However, Erick noted that continuous evaluations are needed, particularly to improve tourism facilities and hotel availability around Mandalika and its surrounding areas.
“Improvements must continue. I believe we need more hotels in the future so that visitors can stay comfortably. Hopefully, more investors will be interested,” he added.

Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) Governor Lalu Muhammad Iqbal said the race had a tangible impact on the local economy, marking a strong revival of the tourism and small-business sectors in the province.
“The most visible impact is on the local economy. Hotels were fully booked not only in Mandalika but also in Senggigi and Mataram. Occupancy rates were high, and room prices rose,” Iqbal said.
He added that the number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) participating in the event nearly doubled this year, from around 60 to more than 120.
“Previously, we had about 60 SMEs involved; now there are over 120. The economic impact is felt across all levels. This is a very positive momentum,” Iqbal said.
