Kuala Lumpur – Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan invites Indonesians in Malaysia to be proud of the national economic growth. Indonesia’s economy will become one of the largest economic powers in the world. On this basis, as Indonesian ambassadors abroad, the diaspora are asked to maintain the good name of Indonesia and be proud to be Indonesian citizens.
This was expressed by Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan when he met with representatives of the Indonesian Diaspora in Malaysia, Wednesday (7/6). The meeting on the sidelines of a working visit to Malaysia was warm, intimate and friendly.
“My message to my brothers and sisters, my children, students in Malaysia, be proud to be ambassadors of Merah Putih, ambassadors of Indonesia, because we are the 16th largest country in the world which, God willing, in the next few years will become the ninth largest economy in the world. If my children are serious, they can become anything in our homeland,” the Minister said.
According to the Minister, Indonesia’s economic growth is better than Malaysia. So is the purchasing power and income. “Indonesia’s economy is growing at around 5.3 percent greater than Malaysia’s and with a small inflation of around 5 percent and supported by good purchasing power and income that is higher than inflation,” said Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan.
Indonesia is currently ranked sixteenth in the G20 and has the opportunity to be ranked ninth and then become the number 5 country in the world in 2023.
The Minister gave an example of himself, who is the son of a farmer from a village, who can become a minister and chairman of the MPR. Likewise, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, who came from a furniture businessman, could become a mayor, governor, and president.
“My children can be anything. Therefore, study hard. Not many children are as lucky as you to study in a foreign country. Many in Indonesia, who may not get a campus as good as the campus of my children who are here. Therefore, be grateful, by studying seriously you are our hope, the hope of Indonesia,” the Minister concluded.
