Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Encourages Actors at INACRAFT to Become Agents of Change for Economic Revival

Jakarta, Siasat ID – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno encourages creative economy (ekraf) players participating in the Jakarta International Handicraft Trade Fair (INACRAFT) 2023 to become agents of change for the revival of the national economy.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno when representing President Joko Widodo officially opened INACRAFT 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Wednesday (1/3/2023) explained that Indonesia entered the world’s top 3, because the creative economy can be able to be in third position after America and South Korea. The government must be able to support creative economy MSME players so that this sector can become a host in its own country.

“President Joko Widodo also supports. Because the President was also a businessman who really felt the existence of INACRAFT. Therefore, ecraf actors are expected to be agents of change for economic revival. Let’s support INACRAFT with a proud spirit of being made in Indonesia,” he said.

This year’s INACRAFT took place from March 1 to 5, 2023 by promoting superior handicraft products as well as the rich traditions, arts and culture of South Sulawesi with the tagline “The Authentic South Sulawesi”.

This year, the INACRAFT exhibition was attended by 1,118 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), filling 1,200 booths consisting of 904 ASEPHI members, 214 non-members, and 61 participants assisted by the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ministry of BUMN, and Ministry of Law and Human Rights, 35 BUMN, 255 participants assisted by the agency or dekranasda.

The South Sulawesi Provincial Government filled the Icon Pavilion by bringing a miniature Pinisi Ship in the main exhibition area as well as representatives of three tribes namely Bugis, Makassar and Toraja at each INACRAFT gate.

The target to be achieved is retail transactions of Rp145 billion with trade contacts expected to reach 12 million US dollars or around Rp182 billion.

“The transaction target before the pandemic reached Rp140 billion. We hope this year can exceed the previous target,” he said.

Also attending the event were Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism/Baparekraf Ni Made Ayu Marthini and Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Products at the Ministry of Tourism/Baparekraf Muhammad Neil El Himam.
