Jakarta – Public services at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) are confirmed to continue as usual, related to the legal case process of alleged corruption of the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) procurement project of the Public Service Agency (BLU) of the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) of Kominfo involving Kominfo Minister Johnny G Plate.

“In the midst of the existing legal process, the Ministry of Communication and Information continues to carry out government administration and public services in accordance with its main duties and functions, as well as in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws and regulations,” said the Head of the Public Relations Bureau of Kominfo, Raden Rhina Anita Ernita Martono, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (17/5/2023).

Rhina emphasized that the Ministry respects all legal processes running at the Attorney General’s Office in the alleged corruption case that ensnared the Minister of Communication and Information, the President Director of BAKTI and a number of BTS provider companies.

Previously, Investigators of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia named Minister of Communication and Information Technology (Menkoinfo) Jhonny G Plate, as a suspect in the alleged corruption of the BAKTI Kominfo BTS procurement project for the period 2020 to 2022.

Jhonny was named as the sixth suspect in a corruption case in the provision of 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) infrastructure and supporting infrastructure packages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 BAKTI of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology from 2020 to 2022.

Investigators had examined Jhonny on February 14 and March 15 as a witness before being named a suspect.

During the third examination, investigators asked for clarification on the evaluation of the results of the examination from the Indonesian Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) which stated that the state financial loss amounted to Rp8.32 trillion.

“The loss is around Rp8 trillion more. So we need to clarify this to the witnesses and the perpetrators including the suspects that we have determined,” said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General’s Office Ketut Sumedana. (Photo: Amiri Yandi/InfoPublik)
