Jakarta – Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi expressed his commitment to continue to build, improve the role of, and connect five super-priority tourist destinations which will be a source of income not only for the state but also for local governments and local communities.

The commitment was conveyed by Budi Karya Sumadi while attending an exhibition at the Indonesia Aja Travel Fair (DIATF) organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) in Jakarta, Friday (19/5/2023).

The development of transportation facilities and infrastructure in five super priority tourist destinations, namely Borobudur, Likupang, Mandalika, Lake Toba, and Labuan Bajo, also aims to support the proud travel program in Indonesia.

“Support for transportation infrastructure development has been carried out in the five new Bali super priority tourist destinations. A number of infrastructures that have been built include building 13 crossing ports in Lake Toba, construction of the Yogyakarta International Airport – Kulonprogo train, construction of the Solo Balapan Adi Soemarmo Airport train line, construction of the Gili Trawangan Port, improving facilities at Likupang Port, and developing Labuan Bajo tourism,” Budi explained on Friday (19/5/2023).

He further said that this development is a manifestation of the President’s mandate to create delivered infrastructure, which is infrastructure that benefits the community.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) this year targets domestic tourist arrivals of up to 1.4 billion and foreign tourists of 8.5 million. This movement has the potential to increase state revenue from the tourism sector to Rp3,281 trillion throughout 2023.

“We are very optimistic that we can achieve these targets and hope to collaborate more together to elevate Indonesian tourism,” said Deputy Minister of Parekraf Angela Tanoesoedibjo.
