Jambi – Jambi Governor H. Al Haris officially opened the Decorative Boat Parade in the framework of the 2024 Batanghari Festival, Saturday (6/7/2024).
The event was held at the Batanghari River Pier behind Angso Duo Market, Jambi City, as an effort to maintain ancestral traditions and promote river tourism potential.
In his remarks, Governor Al Haris emphasized the importance of this parade as a reminder of the role of the Batanghari River as a traditional means of transportation that plays an important role in the history of Jambi Province.
“We preserve and hope that in the future we can maintain the cleanliness of the Batanghari River that we love,” he said.
The governor also highlighted the river’s potential as not only a means of transportation, but also as a center of culture, trade, and investment that can make a significant contribution to Jambi’s development.
The history of Jambi people, which is closely related to rivers, is expressed as an important part of the culture and civilization of this region.
The Decorative Boat Parade, which was attended by 30 ornamental boats from various agencies and sectors, is expected to promote the richness of river tourism in Jambi Province nationally and globally.
The Governor also invited the community to jointly protect the Batanghari River as a valuable asset that must be preserved for environmental sustainability and community welfare.
The support and contribution from all parties in organizing the 2024 Batanghari Festival, including the organizing committee and parade participants, was highly appreciated by Governor Al Haris.
He hopes that this activity will not only strengthen the relationship between humans and nature through rivers, but also mobilize collaboration to maintain and improve the quality of the river environment for a sustainable future.
