Palestinian Officials Accuse Israel of Lacing Gaza Aid Flour with Drugs

Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Israel is facing serious accusations from Palestinian authorities in Gaza. Israel is suspected of mixing narcotics into flour distributed as humanitarian aid to starving residents in Gaza under a delivery scheme backed by both Israel and the United States.

On Friday (June 27, 2025), Gaza’s Government Media Office reported that residents discovered Oxycodone pills inside flour sacks provided through aid distribution points. The potent opioid, commonly used for pain relief, was allegedly found mixed directly into the flour itself.

“There is a strong possibility that these pills were deliberately ground up or dissolved into the flour, this constitutes a direct attack on public health,” the office said in a statement, citing coverage from Anadolu Agency.

Officials held Israel fully responsible, calling the incident a “heinous crime” designed to “foster addiction and destroy the Palestinian social fabric from within.”

“This is part of Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people,” the statement continued, accusing Israel of using drugs as a form of soft warfare targeting civilians.

Omar Hamad, a pharmacist and writer in Gaza, echoed the claims, stating that the narcotics were not only hidden inside the aid sacks but appeared to be blended into the flour itself.

“It was revealed that the drug wasn’t just stashed inside the bags, but actually mixed with the flour,” Hamad posted Thursday (June 26) on X (formerly Twitter).

The Gaza Anti-Narcotics Committee has urged residents to inspect food received from U.S.- and Israeli-backed aid centers and immediately report any suspicious substances. Al Arabiya also reported the committee’s warning, which underscored public health risks amid growing distrust of foreign aid.

The aid distribution program in question is managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a private initiative supported by both the U.S. and Israel and escorted by armed personnel. The operation bypasses the United Nations and other long-established humanitarian organizations.

These claims surface amid ongoing humanitarian concerns. For over two months, Israel had blocked most aid into Gaza, resulting in widespread hunger. While also, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reported that as of Tuesday (June 24), at least 410 Palestinians had been killed by Israeli forces while attempting to access humanitarian supplies.
