Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — A passenger on an AirAsia flight from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo, identified as Fridolina Lindung, tragically passed away after collapsing in the baggage claim area of Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
Fridolina, 27, a resident of Balus Permai Village in Manggarai Timur, lost consciousness after her fall. She was immediately rushed to Siloam Hospital but was pronounced dead en route.
“She fell while waiting for her luggage. Her condition worsened, prompting us to refer her to Siloam Hospital. Unfortunately, she was declared dead upon arrival,” stated Bernadinus Darma, Head of the Labuan Bajo Quarantine Health Center (LKK), on Sunday.
Prior to her referral, Fridolina had been treated at the LKK Labuan Bajo Clinic at Komodo Airport. Medical staff noted concerning symptoms, including dilated pupils, erratic blood pressure, slow breathing at 10 breaths per minute, and mucus discharge from her mouth and nose.

At 8:44 AM WITA, she was referred to Siloam Hospital. However, her pulse became undetectable during the journey.
“At 8:50 AM WITA, upon arriving at Siloam Hospital, the patient was declared deceased by the attending doctor,” added Bernadinus.
The incident highlights the urgency of medical preparedness at transit hubs like airports. Further investigations into the circumstances surrounding her sudden deterioration are ongoing.
