Jakarta – The National Police arrested 649 suspects of Trafficking in Persons during the period June 5-27, 2023.
“The number of suspects in this trafficking crime case is 649 suspects,” said Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan in his official statement, Wednesday (28/6/2023).
During that period, he explained, there were 560 incoming reports, with a total of 1,840 victims.
“The mode is illegal migrant workers or domestic servants in 405 cases, crew members in 9 cases, prostitutes in 159 cases, and child exploitation in 38 cases,” he said.
He also detailed the handling of human trafficking cases in several regions such as in the Riau Islands Police which found allegations of criminal acts of exploitation of minors as music guides or accompanying guests to drink alcohol with a victim named sister FOR.
In this case, the officer secured the alleged perpetrator, namely LN, and the evidence found. Further investigation will be carried out.
Then, Bengkulu Police found a case of alleged immoral crime committed by brother H.
In this case, officers found evidence in the form of one unit of cellphone and cash amounting to Rp500,000.
The mode of the perpetrator is to provide women and places to commit criminal acts of trafficking in persons and or immorality (pimping).
Furthermore, Airport Police officers in Bali found several suspicious people who were going to work abroad without complete documents. The police have also secured four Indonesian citizens who claimed to be working in Qatar.
Then it was found that one person was suspected of being a distributor of workers and three other people were victims, then the four people were taken to the Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police Station.
Trafficking activities were also found in the West Nusa Tenggara region. The police received a report from JPS alias J by asking for help from TB alias T to be dispatched to Abu Dhabi.
After the administrative process has been made then the victim leaves the airport it is discovered that the victim will be dispatched to Turkey not to the country of Abu Dhabi according to the initial agreement.
