Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Pope Francis health has improved and stabilized after three weeks of hospitalization. The latest update suggests that Pope Francis could soon be released from the hospital, where he has been treated for pneumonia affecting both lungs.
According to AFP on Tuesday (March 11) , Vatican officials stated that doctors were no longer concerned for the Pope’s safety.
The 88-year-old pope has been receiving treatment at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital since February 14 after experiencing severe respiratory issues. His condition had initially raised serious concerns, but after a week of steady improvement, the Vatican said his prognosis was no longer considered “uncertain.”
“The Pope’s clinical condition remains stable,” the Vatican said in an official statement. “There has been a visible improvement compared to previous days, confirmed by blood tests and clinical observations, as well as his positive response to pharmacological therapy.”
Despite his progress, the Vatican noted that Pope Francis would need to remain in the hospital for a few more days before returning to his residence.
Throughout Monday, Pope Francis remain underwent physical and respiratory therapy in his hospital room on the 10th floor of Gemelli Hospital. A Vatican source earlier on Monday said it was still “too early to discuss his return to Santa Marta,” the Pope’s residence within Vatican City.
