Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — President Prabowo Subianto carried out his first cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, February 19. Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro being the first official to be replaced.
The reshuffle took place at the State Palace in Jakarta and marked the first such move by Prabowo since his inauguration as president on October 20, 2024. Prior to the event, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed that President Prabowo was scheduled to appoint several new state officials later that afternoon.
Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro, who had served as Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology since October 21, 2024, submitted his resignation letter on Wednesday. Upon assuming office, Satryo had pledged to implement various reforms within the ministry, with a particular focus on enhancing children’s critical thinking skills.
His tenure lasted exactly 121 days before he was removed from his post. The reasons behind his dismissal remain unclear, but his time in office was not without controversy. He faced public scrutiny and protests from hundreds of ministry employees over staffing changes within the institution.

Brian Yuliarto
Brian Yuliarto has been appointed as his replacement, as stated in Presidential Decree No. 26b of 2025 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Ministers for the 2024-2029 Red and White Cabinet.
Yuliarto, a professor at the Faculty of Industrial Technology at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), specializes in industrial technology. He previously served as Vice Rector for Research and Innovation at ITB for the 2025-2030 term and has expertise in nanotechnology and quantum technology.
Officials Appointment
In addition to the cabinet reshuffle, several key officials were appointed by President Prabowo during the ceremony at the State Palace on Wednesday. The newly appointed officials include:
- Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) – Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti
- Deputy Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) – Sonny Harry B.
- Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) – Retired Lt. Gen. Nugroho Sulistyo
- Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) – Yusuf Ateh
- Deputy Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) – Agustina Arumsari
The cabinet reshuffle and appointments signal the early adjustments made by President Prabowo as he navigates the challenges of his administration.
