Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — President Prabowo Subianto has issued a stern warning to his cabinet members, stating that those who do not genuinely serve the interests of the people will be dismissed. President Prabowo remarks came in response to questions about a potential cabinet reshuffle following his first 100 days in office.

Prabowo declared his warning during the 102nd Anniversary Celebration of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 5.

Prabowo emphasized that he would not hesitate to remove ministers or officials who fail to work in the best interest of the public. “The only priority is the nation and its people, nothing else. Those who do not sincerely serve the people will be removed,” Prabowo stated firmly, as reported by CNN Indonesia.

The president underscored the public’s demand for a transparent and accountable government. “People want a clean and responsible government. That is what I intend to enforce,” He said.

Prabowo statement has fueled speculation about an impending cabinet reshuffle. However, he did not confirm whether such a move would take place in the near future.

Earlier, Prabowo issued the warning at the end of his speech during the NU anniversary event, emphasizing that he would take action against defiant officials.

“I have given repeated warnings in these first 100 days. Now, anyone who is stubborn, who resists the major direction of this administration, and who does not align with the people’s demand for a clean government will face consequences,” said Prabowo.

Warning to Government Officials

In addition to cabinet members, Prabowo warned all government officials to clean up their acts before facing disciplinary action. However, he stopped short of explicitly mentioning a reshuffle.

“If you are not loyal, if you obstruct policies designed to help the Indonesian people, I will take action against you,” Prabowo cautioned, as repored by Kompas.

He also urged all ministers and agency leaders to work decisively for the nation. “I call on all ministers and institutional leaders to be bold and committed. We serve only the nation, the state, and the people of Indonesia,” he added.

Potential Cabinet Reshuffle

President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka announced their Cabinet Merah Putih lineup for the 2024-2029 period at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Sunday (Oct.ober 20, 2024).

The cabinet comprises 109 officials, including ministers, deputy ministers, agency heads, and ministerial-level leaders. Given the cabinet’s large composition, a reshuffle remains a viable option to ensure effective governance and alignment with the Prabowo-Gibran administration’s vision.
