Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Samsung is set to release a Slim version of its upcoming Galaxy S25 lineup, a model specifically designed to test the market’s appetite for thinner phones. The Galaxy S25 Slim will debut a few months after the main Galaxy S25 series launch, which includes the standard, Plus, and Ultra models.
The Slim edition of the S25 will reportedly focus on a sleeker, ultra-thin profile reminiscent of the Z Fold Special Edition. According to reports from Android Police, Samsung is keen to see how consumers respond to the new design before integrating similar features into its Galaxy S26 lineup.
It’s still uncertain which Galaxy S25 variant will serve as the foundation for the Slim model. However, some sources, including The Elec, speculate that Samsung could reframe its S25 Fan Edition (FE) as a Slim edition, aligning with the FE’s typical release a few months after the main series. This approach could help Samsung avoid any internal competition between its FE and Slim models, keeping each within its niche.

This focus on thin devices aligns with a broader trend in the industry. Rumors suggest Apple may also release a Slim variant in 2025, potentially replacing its Plus model. Previously, Apple discontinued its Mini iPhone model due to limited demand, signaling a shift in priorities for consumers seeking different design forms.
Both companies’ foray into slimmer designs aims to capture interest from users who prioritize compact, minimalist aesthetics. The Galaxy S25 Slim could mark Samsung’s entry into the thin-device category if met with positive reception, with more ultra-thin models potentially added to future Galaxy S series.
