Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — South Korean tech giant Samsung is reportedly in talks with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its Galaxy AI features. This was a move that could significantly enhance the artificial intelligence capabilities of its smartphones.
Samsung and OpenAI are reportedly in discussions to form a partnership aimed at integrating ChatGPT into Galaxy AI. According to reports, the collaboration is still in the early stages of negotiation. If finalized, this partnership could bring more advanced AI tools to Samsung Galaxy devices, enriching user experiences with smarter, more intuitive features.
Currently, Samsung relies on its proprietary Large Language Model (LLM) and Google’s Gemini AI to power Galaxy AI functionalities. Adding ChatGPT to the mix could provide a fresh update to its devices and strengthen their AI capabilities.
However, the details of how ChatGPT will be implemented in Galaxy AI remain under wraps as discussions are still in their early stages.
Samsung would not be the first company to incorporate ChatGPT into its ecosystem. Apple has already integrated OpenAI’s technology into its devices.
According to CNN Indonesia, Apple leverages ChatGPT within Apple Intelligence as a backup, engaging the platform when its on-device AI models fall short for a given task. Samsung may adopt a similar approach or opt for direct integration of ChatGPT to boost Galaxy AI’s performance.

This potential collaboration also underscores OpenAI’s growing competitiveness with Google, particularly following the release of ChatGPT-powered search services. OpenAI is reportedly developing an AI-driven web browser and has been hiring developers with experience on projects like Google Chrome.
Samsung History with ChatGPT
The news is particularly striking given Samsung’s history with AI chatbots. In May 2023, the company issued an internal memo banning employees from using platforms like ChatGPT after incidents where sensitive information was inadvertently leaked via the chatbot. Violations of this ban were met with strict disciplinary measures, including the threat of termination.
If the partnership with OpenAI materializes, it could signal a shift in Samsung’s approach to leveraging external AI technologies. For now, tech enthusiasts will have to wait to see how the integration of ChatGPT into Galaxy AI could transform the capabilities of Samsung’s flagship devices.
