Serawak, Indonesia Sentinel — Seven Indonesians and a Malaysian citizen tragically lost their lives in a collision on the Pan Borneo Highway, Sarawak, Malaysia, on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

The fatal incident unfolded when the victims, traveling in a Perodua Alza vehicle, collided with a truck near the Sungai Nyelong Bridge after a high-speed chase with police.

Police Chase Led to the Crash

Acting Sarikei Police Chief Aswandy Anis stated that the vehicle failed to stop at a checkpoint and was pursued by officers. The chase intensified when the car entered the wrong lane at the Simpang Bulat highway diversion, leading to the head-on collision with the oncoming truck.
