The move is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s broader vision to achieve national food self-sufficiency, as outlined in his Asta Cita development agenda.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati announced the budget hike as a strategic measure to boost agricultural and fisheries productivity, strengthen food supply chains, and improve the welfare of farmers and fishers.
The increased budget will also be used to ensure national food availability and improve the income terms of trade for farmers and fishers.

Sri Mulyani emphasized that food security has been designated a top priority for 2025. The expanded funding is expected to bring a range of food security programs to fruition.
